Home Visits are a wonderful way to learn about other cultures and have them learn about ours. PSSCA has a long history of promoting visits in citizens' homes. Traditional "Homestays" have visitors actually living in the home with the host family for a period of days or weeks. Many lasting friendships have come from these homestays. These visits work well for singles or a couple and especially students or government interns.

For those who are interested in hosting a small event in their home and are unable to have overnight guests, we also promote Home Visits. A Home Visit event can be as simple as an afternoon tea or something more elaborate like a formal dinner party. Taking a few guests on a "citizen's" tour of the city is another great way of sharing our area and Portland's culture without a big financial or time burden.

Our Association put together a .pdf document that describes the guidelines for a Homestay. Not all will apply for a Home Visit, but many of the guidelines are the same. Clicking here will give access to the document that can be downloaded and saved on your computer. Applications for Homestays and other documents pertaining to our Association can be found on our Documents page.

If you would like more information, one of our Directors will be happy to talk with you. Please contact us via email or by writing to us at the address in the Contact Us area of this site.

We look forward to hearing from you!
