Portland-Sapporo Sister City Association sponsors a number of events during each year. A brief overview of activities planned for 2009 appears below. 3/29 - The Oratorical Contest Winners will deliver their winning speeches at the Portland City Hall on Monday, March 29 at 10 AM. Public Welcome.

2/1-10 - Snow Carving Delegation to Sapporo Snow Festival

3/26-4/2 - English Oratorical Speech Contest Winners Delegation visit Portland

3/31 - Speech Contest Winners present to Mayor and City Commissioners; City Hall; 2pm

June

6/5-6/7 - Official delegation from Sapporo to Portland for 50th Anniversary

6/5 - Resigning Ceremony at Portland City Hall; 2pm; Members and Guests reception to follow

6/5 - Opening of Children's Art Exhibit at Pioneer Place; 4pm; open to the public.

6/6 - Delegation participates in the Rose Parade

6/6 - HBC Youth Philharmonic performs at Lewis & Clark College

6/7 - Sayonara Party, Member BBQ, Opening of Parallel Worlds exhibit, all at Portland Japanese Garden; Open to PSSCA and Japanese Garden members and invited guests.

9/19-20 - Festival Japan at Uwajimaya in Beaverton

November

11/1-11/8 - Official delegation from Portland to Sapporo for 50th Anniversary. More information here.
